Okean El'zy,

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ElX45wJP-eA

One of my favourite songs from when I was in Russia and Ukraine. Lyrics sound sad in English but this band really gets a huge following in Ukraine, namely because they sing in Ukrainian. However check out their other videos, such as Bez boyu, Vishje Neba and Veseli Chasi. I'm sure you'll like them.

It's just that I want,
Don't ask, where I was,
When you felt so good
Where I was when you alone were
taken from the heavens
Or are you not there?

It's just that I want,
Don't ask, where I was,
When you felt so good
Where I was when you alone were
taken from the heavens
Or are you not there?

It's just that I want,
to be wherever you are;
I just want to live for you, a prisoner,
And to watch how my dreams escape from me into your hands

Don't ask, don't be like that,
Whether I could sleep alone.
I stood, moved
And watched how the rain hid
All of your sadness,
All traces of you

Translation be me ;-)

Nytol; good night, bad day!

I'd been taking herbal sleeping tablets for the past week, yet the only results have been sleepy mornings, late arrivals to lectures and aggressive bi polar-like behaviour on my part.

There is currently a good advert on the box, depicting a lady being more awake and focused at breakfast time. The box is also quite pretty, it makes you think throwing money at insomnia will fix your problem. Just because something is natural, it's not necessarily good for you. Too much orange juice rots your teeth, opium almost bankrupts China, and one's own feculence, well, we wont talk about that...you can get a dictionary as my blog will end up being blocked like last week due to my previous post of products that you buy in the family planning section. Ahem, Anyway...

For anyone who is having trouble getting their share of kip, I'd advise going to the gym and to tire yourself out. Chemical sleeping pills are addictive, herbal sleeping pills make you depressed.

Not really worth the £4.65, nor the Boots points. I will be going to the gym more often henceforth.

BBC News, fuel povery

The BBC and other news publications have reported that if one spends 10% of one's income on gas and fuel, then that constitutes one as being in fuel poverty.

If I earn £100 a week and spend £10 on condoms, then am I in sex poverty? Or if Olga spends £60 on shoes, but then earns only £500 a month, is she in foot poverty?

Send more Beer to Britain, forget the credit crunch, we're all in alcohol poverty.

Freshers' Flu and Berocca

Aujourd'hui I was bed-ridden with freshers' flu, and to try and give my immune system a boost, I purchased some effervescent vitamin tablets from Sainsbury. These are great - they give you absolutely all the vitamins you need to get back to full health, just chuck a tablet into a glass of water and let your illness fizz away as the orange-flavoured tablet dissolves in the water before your very eyes.

Earlier on, I had tried to tidy the kitchen despite my ill-state of health, and so the jug that I habitually take to bed with me to quench my thirst throughout the night was temporarily absent from my room residing in the dishwasher, so I took a two large glasses of water to bed with me. I then had a great idea; why don't I sling a berocca tablet in each of them? You know, so that should I get thirsty during the night, then not only will I quench my thirst, but also load myself with vitamins so that I get better sooner.

I tossed a tablet in each glass and popped them on the windowsill, then I pulled the blackout blind down, so I wouldn't be woken up by the light coming from the streetlights outside flickering on and off randomly throughout the night. I took two glasses to compensate for the absence of my jug of water, as I drink a lot. But this night I was so ill, I slept solidly. I didn't get thirsty.

My housemate Nicoleta woke me up at 10.30 am worried about me being ill. She made me two slices of toast, with plenty of butter and jam on top and a cup of sweet tea...I was being well looked after. She was shocked not only because of the general untidiness of my room, but how cold it was. Everyone who knows me, knows that I have to sleep with the window open in order to fall asleep, as I get very hot at night.

Poor me, I was so ill, I groaned weakly and asked her to kindly close the window. So, Nicoleta had to jump on my bed and pull the blind up for me. There on the windowsill stood two full glasses of bright-orange berocca-infused water. Except judging from her face, she didn't think they were berocca (as she's Romanian and doesn't know of these type of vitamin tablets), instead she looked in horror as she thought I had used the glasses to pee in them during the night.
